Today I have been researching and deciding on how I would like certain scenes of my trailer to be shot and where I want to shoot them.
I have been comparing different genres of film and seeing how this affects how group scenes are filmed. Resevoir Dogs uses a side shot and the characters slowly walk into view, before we are shown head shots of each of the characters in turn. Mean Girls uses a front wide shot, with the four girls in sharp focus and everybody else in the corridor is blurred. An epic action movie such as Avengers has the camera rotate around it's characters and films them from below to show they are heroes.
I think I would like to film my scene like Resevoir Dogs. I'm limited to what I can do because of my zero-budget, and I like the side shot and slow walk into shot and I think it would create a moment of shock if I come in behind the other characters in my chair.
I need my location to be a fairy quiet street, as it is meant to be the end of the world as we know it. I would prefer it to be deserted when I film, so this may mean taking several shots and editing them together. I have booked a tripod to film with, though preferably I would use a Steady Cam in order to get a controlled shot which moves with the characters. There won't be any dialogue, 'You Don't Own Me' will be played over the top of the shot, so I will not have to worry about background noise ruining the illusion of the Apocalypse.
